Roller Coaster Continues
The babies are doing great, but mom and dad have had a tough day.
Quinn had the ultrasound on his head and the doctor's believe it is just a bruise. Both his skull and brain are in excellent condition. He continues to do well on his feeds. They have upped him to 6 bottle-feeds per day and he is consistently finishing each bottle. Riley is up to 22cc's and has had no problems with the increases. Both of their billi levels continue to look good. Riley's IV did come out again, but the doctor's have decided to leave it out and monitor her glucose level. Yeah for no more sticking!! (for now at least)
When the doctors rounded on Quinn and Riley this morning they informed us that the babies could be transferred to Lexington Medical this afternoon. When we returned from lunch, the transport nurses were busy loading the babies into the transport isolettes. We got as far as the ambulance pulling out of the bay when the nurses got a phone call telling them to stop and turn back - our insurance had refused to pay for the transfer and for any care at Lexington. So we took the babies and all their stuff back up to the Richland NICU.
We both felt deflated after being so excited about having the babies closer to home. But take great comfort in knowing that God is in control and His plan is perfect. Our babies are getting terrific care and their stay in the NICU is only temporary. We are exploring another option that may possibly allow the transfer, but we will not have an answer for several days.
Also, when we returned to the NICU we were both blessed and touched by this sight!!!
That's right. They've put Riley and Quinn in one isolette! Finally resting beside each other again and so cute. Thank you everyone for your continued prayers for our family. Here are a few more pictures.

So super precious! Thinking of your family tonight.
Oh, I was so glad to see them beside each other again! Love to all of you!
so sorry to hear about the transfer. I know you had to just to be so disappointed - I was!! Just trusting that God has a reason for them staying there. LOVE seeing them together. Love you guys.. continued prayers. CAN'T WAIT to see you next Friday.
awwww....everybody looks so good! We will keep praying!
I continue to pray for your sweet babies. I have twins who will be 38 this May. I love to see that they put them together. Mine were in the same crib for a year and always snuggled together. Twins have a very special bond and I know yours will be healthy and headed home soon. Praying for you as you wait.
Love and Hugs, Laurie
Hey Brenna and Geoff,
You've got to know that we are thinking and praying for all of you. Brenna, that picture of you on the last post makes you look so... motherly, so beautiful. You both are meant to be parents. Hooplah!
