Riley is walking! That's one of the biggest pieces of news for this very late 16 month post. Of course, true to herself, she is walking a little unconventionally (just like her "w" sit, and army crawl are a little unique). She is putting weight on the insides of her feet instead of the outside. It makes her gate a little jerky and if she doesn't correct it on her own within the month we will see about getting her an insert for her shoes to help her correct it. Quinn is now running everywhere, and wiping out by going so fast. They are having so much fun walking/running around together!
Walking girl!
We've had some play dates and pool time, trying to deal with this heat!
This boy loves the water, puts his face in and all!
Helping mommy around the house, "hey mom, where do these go?"
Our first trip to Monkey Joe's, this wild boy LOVED it!
Riley is watching everything and Quinn had no fear!
There was a section just for little kids, it was great!
Riley did get into it...that smile says it all!
Sometimes they play IN the toy box, instead of with the toys!
They decided that bath time is not torture anymore, and has gone back to being...
LOTS OF FUN!!!
My kids love their daddy and their loveys :)
Fun times with the cousins!
Notice the little ones with no bathing suits...
My sister was watching them all so it was impressive she got them all into swim diapers!
Daddy's little helper!
Riley loves to be "under" things...blankets, pillows, anything and she is a happy girl!
Did I mention they LOVE their loveys.
Quinn says "oggy" for froggy
and Riley say "amme" for lamby
Remember when Quinn was pushing Riley, now she's pushing him!
This is Quinn signing "please" and "all done"
"Using a spoon is messy work!"
"You're not kidding!"
Some Facts that I want to remember:
*They both are trying to use spoons more...definitely will make my life easier when they master this :)
*They are both signing "please" "more" "all done" and Quinn will sign "drink". He has decided for "drink" to also mean "more" at times, so we are working on that.
*They are both talking a lot...some of it we understand:) Quinn: more, ball, haley, froggy, all done, mama, dada, amen, bye-bye, thank you, uh-oh, and probably some words I'm forgetting...
Riley: more, ball, haley, froggy, lamby, all done, mama, dada, doggy, apple, lion, boo (she like to play peek-a-boo, and jump out and say boo), diaper, brother, uh-oh, bye-bye, thank you, apple, and her new favorite word is baby. She started saying baby from church and so we got her a baby, actually it's my old baby doll that I've been saving for my daughter (sniff, sniff). I got out some of her preemie clothes and dressed her baby in her old outfit. She loves it and kisses baby!
*They are eating more and more foods. Quinn still loves all things carbs, it's good that mommy has been making banana bread and zucchini bread! Riley loves fruit, especially the yummy peaches we've had lately!
*They both have been blowing kisses for a long time so when you ask for a kiss that is what they would do. Recently, they discovered the pucker up and plant one on you kind of kiss and it is so adorable!
*Quinn's big belly insisted that it have a little more room and he is now wearing size 5 diapers...much more comfortably! Riley is still in size 3 and does not seem to be outgrowing them any time soon!
*They love looking out windows and playing behind the curtains, they laugh and giggle so hard!
*They both love dancing when music is on, we have a little nightly dance time before bed :)
*Quinn's 16th tooth came in, Riley already had 16 teeth. In case you are counting that's 32 teeth we've gotten in this household in about a 10 month span...it has been non-stop teething! And I think Quinn may be starting to get his 2 year molars because he's got all the "signs" of teething again...
*At 16 months they were actually still taking 2 naps on most days. This past week they started staying up pretty late at night with 2 naps, so we decided that it seemed time to switch to just one nap. We have done it the past 3 days and it's been a little rough but we are going to stick with it and hope that it gets better soon!
We've had a lot of fun this summer and I have lots of things I need to post about, for now I'll end with a cute story!
Yesterday Quinn was outside with daddy at the neighbors house. Riley and I went out there a few minutes after them and Quinn was so excited to see his sister! He ran up to her and gave her a hug and they both fell right over, with him on top of her and her laying on her back in the grass! It was so funny and they just laid there for a minute, we just laughed, and then we helped them up!
I just LOVE these kids and thank the Lord for the blessing of them every day!
