12 Months
12 months, Wow! I cannot believe how much they have grown this past year. This past month they seem to be into any and everything. They hear a lot of "no touch" these days! We went for their well dr appointment on Monday. Unfortunately, Quinn was not well. On top of a cold he also has an ear infection in both ears! Poor boy! He's on antibiotic and will have to go back in a few weeks for his shots. Riley has a cold too, but no ear infections so she had to get her shots. Poor girl! Quinn weighed 21 pounds 9 ounces and is 28.5 inches long. Riley weighed 16 pounds 2 ounces and is 27.5 inches long. She's not even on the charts for weight so we are trying to add a few more calories and fat to her diet.
Quinn is still in size 3 diapers and 12 month clothing. Riley is kinda in size 3 diapers. I had moved her to them but when she got a stomach bug she kept leaking out of her diapers. We went back down to size 2 and it helped. She is mostly in 9 month clothing. They are eating pretty much the same things, but we now get to start trying some new foods like eggs! I gave them a little of my eggs today, Riley loved them and would have eaten more! Quinn would not even put a bite in his mouth, when I stuck it in his mouth for him, he coughed, turned red, gaged, and threw up a little. It was drama and I'm thinking he's a picky eater who doesn't like new things. I know he's my child because I was a pretty picky eater when I was younger, so we'll just keep trying! I dropped one nursing, so they nurse 3 times a day and get some whole milk with a snack in the afternoon. They are taking it pretty good, but sometimes don't drink much at all.
Riley has also started crawling up on her hands and knees. It seems on the hardwoods she still likes to army crawl/slide, but on the carpet she is getting around on all fours! Quinn has started standing without holding anything and a time or two has taken one step into someone's arms without holding anything. He also loves to climb, is trying to climb anything he can. He isn't quite tall enough for most of it yet, but I can't take my eyes off him!
They do play well together...most of the time. They definitley make each other mad when one takes a toy the other was playing with. We are working on this, I'm sure we always will be :) They also do funny things that just make me laugh. The other day I went to get Riley after her nap. She was in her crib with her head and her feet touching the mattress and her bottom up in the air, I guess working on a head stand. Quinn got into Haley's food bowl the other day and I had to get 3 pieces of dog food out of his mouth. The child won't eat eggs, but dog food he wants to eat?!? This is where the "no touch" comes in!
Riley also has been getting in all 4 of her first year molars! If I thought teething with the front teeth was difficult, it's nothing compared to these. They are big teeth, the first broke the surface about 3 weeks ago and they just keep coming. I'll be happy when the last one gets in enough that they stop hurting, I'm sure she will be too! Quinn's not getting his molars yet, I'm sure about the time Riley's are done, his will start :) They both babble a lot, and say mama and dada, although Riley says dada most of the time and Quinn says mama most of the time. At least Geoff and I each get one calling our name!
